TFU lies southeast of Chengdu and identifies the correct airport

Chengdu Tianfu International Airport uses the code TFU; Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport uses CTU. They occupy different sides of the city. Putting the airport code, terminal, and flight number into a booking or pickup message gives drivers and companions an exact destination.

Tianfu handles many domestic and international flights. From 30 July 2026, some Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan services moved from Tianfu to Shuangliu, showing why the current ticket and airline notice are more reliable than a general division between the two airports.

The terminal and Ground Transportation Centre form a large complex, with an indoor walk between gates, immigration or baggage claim, metro, and vehicle pickup.

Line 18 enters Chengdu through its southern corridor

Tianfu Airport Terminal 1 & 2 station (天府机场1号2号航站楼站) is inside the Ground Transportation Centre. Follow Metro and GTC signs. Line 18 runs northwest toward South Railway Station and Incubation Park, making it the principal rail route into the city.

Hotels near South Railway Station, Tianfu Avenue, or the southern high-tech district relate directly to this corridor. Tianfu Square, Chunxi Road, Kuanzhai Alleys, and the traditional centre normally require a city-line interchange. Include transfer corridors, the final exit, and the walk to the hotel when comparing routes.

Line 18 may use express and all-stop patterns. Platform screens and announcements show the terminus, service type, and stops for the current train.

Line 19 connects Tianfu and Shuangliu airports

Line 19 joins the Line 18 corridor beyond Tianfu Station and runs through Tianfu Airport toward Shuangliu Airport Terminal 2 East. It also serves Tianfu New Area, Shuangliu, and Wenjiang directions.

The panda represents Chengdu; Metro, GTC, Taxi, and Online Car-hailing signs are the working landmarks for a transfer.

Direct and all-stop arrangements, frequency, and last trains can change. Check the day's Chengdu Metro information or station display. At Shuangliu, Terminal 2 East is a different station name from Line 10's Terminal 2 station, with signs guiding the connection.

Central districts, railway stations, and onward trips need different routes

Chunxi Road, Taikoo Li, and Tianfu Square usually mean Line 18 plus a city interchange. South Railway Station and the southern high-tech zone lie more directly on the corridor. A high-speed train from Chengdu East adds a cross-city transfer; match “Chengdu East,” “Chengdu South,” or “Chengdu West” on the rail ticket with the map.

Journeys to Dujiangyan, Mount Qingcheng, Leshan, or other regional destinations may pass through a railway or coach terminal. The full connection includes station identity checks, security, and waiting time alongside the travel itself.

Night arrivals use coaches and signed car areas

After metro service ends, current airport coaches, official taxis, and ride-hailing continue to cover some journeys. Check live airport displays or the official airport-bus channel for routes and stops. Taxis use the official queue; ride-hailing apps assign a pickup area. Save the hotel name, full address, and telephone number in Chinese, and choose a vehicle with suitable luggage space.

A cross-airport connection also includes airline procedures

TFU to CTU is a journey across the city. Immigration, baggage collection, re-check, and security depend on the airlines, tickets, and through-check arrangement. With separate tickets, confirm the process and deadlines with both carriers. Any airport-provided transfer service has its own eligible flights, desks, and current operating conditions.

Travellers with an activated Chengdu transit QR code can use it at the gates. A first-time rider without the setup can buy a single-journey ticket at a machine or service centre. Use the same ticket, account, card, or device to enter and exit.
