Beijing attraction

Tian'anmen Square

The square, flag ceremony and surrounding national institutions each have their own security and reservation rules.

Tian'anmen Square guide

The square and flag ceremony

Tian'anmen Gate stands north of the square and marks the approach to the Forbidden City. Security is strict and entrances change with events, so travel light and keep passports and booking records ready.

Tian'anmen Gate

Flag-raising follows sunrise and needs the corresponding reservation slot. A booking does not provide a fixed viewing position.

The Monument to the People's Heroes sits on the central axis between the gate and Chairman Mao Memorial Hall.
