Harbin's passenger railway stations occupy different parts of the city. Harbin West Railway Station (哈尔滨西站) is in the western Haxi district and connects to the Harbin–Dalian and Beijing–Harbin high-speed corridors. Its many EMU destinations and relatively broad choice of high-speed trains make it a useful first station to compare for a high-speed trip; Metro Line 3 connects to Line 2 for the old city and the north bank. Harbin Railway Station (哈尔滨站), near the old city, serves both high-speed and conventional trains and sits on Line 2. Harbin East Railway Station (哈尔滨东站), on the eastern side, handles conventional passenger trains; Line 1 connects through Museum of Heilongjiang Province (博物馆) to Line 2. The useful station still depends on the train available for the travel date and the location of the hotel.
Harbin West links the Harbin–Dalian and Beijing–Harbin corridors
Harbin West is the northern terminus of the Harbin–Dalian high-speed railway, which runs south through Jilin and Liaoning. The Beijing–Harbin high-speed corridor extends toward Beijing. Both EMU and conventional services use this cold-region transport hub. Its arched roof and terracotta-coloured exterior bring European design elements into a building that is easy to recognise on arrival; destinations and stops should be checked against the current ticket.

The station places arriving travellers in Haxi. For Central Street or destinations north of the Songhua River, take Metro Line 3 from Harbin West and change to Line 2 at Zhujiang Road. A hotel in Haxi may need a shorter final connection. Keep the full name “哈尔滨西站” in a map search so the route leads to this station.

Harbin Railway Station serves fast and conventional trains near the old city
Established in 1899, Harbin Railway Station connects the Beijing–Harbin, Harbin–Qiqihar and Harbin–Mudanjiang high-speed railways and the Harbin–Jiamusi rapid railway. Conventional trains also use routes such as the Beijing–Harbin and Binzhou lines. The present building has been rebuilt over time and presents the station's historic character in an Art Nouveau style. Its position near the old city and commercial districts can be convenient for a stay around Central Street when a suitable train serves the station.

Metro Line 2 serves Harbin Railway Station, Central Street, Sun Island and Ice and Snow World without a line change. An underground public passage also connects the station's north and south sides for movement between Nangang and Daoli. Railway passengers should follow the separate signs for the entrance, ticket gate and exit, and check the actual entrance for their train or metro connection.

Harbin East serves conventional trains on the eastern side
Harbin East dates back to 1932 and was formerly called Sankeshu Station. It remains a combined passenger and freight station. Its passenger trains are conventional services; it has no high-speed passenger service. A comparable conventional journey usually takes longer than a high-speed one, so compare the available train, departure time and destination for the travel date. Current timetable adjustments include some conventional services toward Jiamusi and Tongjiang.

Metro Line 1 serves Harbin East. Change at Museum of Heilongjiang Province (博物馆) to Line 2 for the old city and destinations north of the river, or plan the final connection from the hotel address. Use the full name “哈尔滨东站” when searching for a conventional train or navigating to the station; “哈尔滨站” names a different place.

China Railway's 12306 lists Harbin, Harbin West and Harbin East as separate stations. Train directions and stopping patterns change with timetable updates, so check the date and complete station name before arranging the city connection.
