Finding the right transfer
Beijing Daxing International Airport (PKX) combines its terminal, rail links and road transport in one large hub. The layout is clear, but the walk from arrivals to the Airport Express, buses or ride-hailing area still takes time. Read the signs for "Airport Express", "Airport Bus", "Taxi" and "Online Car-hailing" before committing to a route.
The star-shaped terminal is easy to recognize. A compact plan does not mean a short walk, so leave a margin when making a connection.
First choice: the Daxing Airport Express to Caoqiao
For most visitors staying in central Beijing, the Daxing Airport Express is the simplest place to start. At Caoqiao (草桥), transfer to Subway Line 10 or Line 19 and continue according to the hotel location. This route is often practical for Beijing South Railway Station, Financial Street, Niujie, Qianmen and other areas south or west of the centre.
The train has useful luggage space, though the interchange at Caoqiao can still involve a long walk. If someone in the group has limited mobility, or the luggage is genuinely hard to move, a direct taxi, ride-hailing car or suitable airport bus may be easier.
Other ways into Beijing
Airport buses serve several transport hubs and city stops, with late services adjusted to passenger demand. Buy the ticket using current information from the terminal, the Beijing Service counter or the airport's official channels. Temporary fare promotions are tied to specific dates and flights; they are not permanent free services.
Taxis and ride-hailing cars have marked waiting areas. Confirm the pickup floor and zone before ordering a car. Drivers can enter the parking area while the passenger is still searching on another level, which helps no one. Central Beijing is a long road journey from Daxing, and both price and travel time change with traffic and the final address.
Daxing also has an intercity railway connection. It can suit some passengers continuing to Beijing West Railway Station or another train, but it is not the subway and has its own timetable, stops and ticketing. If the aim is simply to reach a hotel, compare the actual destination before choosing a service because its top speed looks impressive.
After the rail service stops, check that night's airport buses first. If none goes near your accommodation, use the official taxi rank or ride-hailing area. Do not bargain with touts in arrivals.
